The Landmark London | An Exquisite Afternoon Tea in London
There’s always something magical about taking afternoon tea in London – especially when it’s a birthday surprise organised by your husband – and even more so when it’s at the Landmark London Hotel.

It was a beautifully sunny afternoon that we slipped through the beautiful entrance,
The Landmark has an illustrious past as one of London’s grand Victorian-era railway hotels and sits right across from Marylebone station – it’s one of London’s classic five-star hotels.

The Landmark London’s illustrious legacy includes all the marks of greatness including an opening ceremony with members of the Royal Family, a charity event for St. Mary’s Hospital proceeding Alexander Flemings discovery of penicillin, a “Welcome Back from Prison” breakfast for the Suffragettes, the M19 debriefing of legendary British Lieutenant Airey Neave, to a major refurbishment by a Japanese Popstar.

We love to slip into the Landmark for leisurely lunches, to sip cocktails waiting for Marylebone trains in the Mirror bar, dinners that welcome twilight falling…and to revel in the suffragette history links of the hotel.

Funnily enough, it’s also the place that we had a champagne break on our legal wedding day. Only a month to go before our wedding we had wandered through pretty well every venue within a 10-minute walk of the registry office. Our conditions were fairly straightforward; pretty, mostly informal for a few drinks and big enough to hold 40 people without any stress. Then we discovered their basement bar. Perfection.
In their wood-panelled room with incredibly kind and accommodating staff, we found ourselves popping corks with 90% of the people we loved the most in the world.

This time though, it was just the two of us.

At The Landmark London, they’ve been perfecting and refining the art of traditional Afternoon Tea for over century. You experience their quintessentially London afternoon tea in style under the high palms of their magnificent Victorian Winter Garden atrium.

The setting is serene and magical, the atmosphere relaxed and refined with the soft sound of piano and daylight twinkling through. Indulge in an irresistible assortment of delicacies, delicate finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones served with rich Cornish clotted cream and delicious preserves, along with a selection of crafted cakes and pastries.
It’s just heavenly escapism.

It’s a wonderful example of luxury afternoon tea in London.

Especially on a birthday.

We lingered until past twilight, over our “Highly Commended Afternoon Tea” according to the Afternoon Tea Awards 2019 (which funnily enough I attended.)

It entered immediately into my top 10 favourite afternoon teas in London, probably even top 5. It was absolutely lovely – the team there were incredible looking after us and the atrium so just so gorgeous.

Have you lingered over afternoon tea at the Landmark London hotel?
