Where to go in Scotland – The Best Road Trip Ever
Want to know where to go in Scotland on a road trip? Just go everywhere. Just get in a car, add a bottle or two of wine for an evening, a couple of snacks, good company and a GPS. That’s where.

You’ll discover azure skies bathing in still lochs, fairy cairns balancing on cliff-sides, mist draped mountain shoulders, and more castles than you can imagine (which is the best problem in the world).

See?

Even the hardy port towns are cute – even their wallpaper was stunning. We fell in love.

We were never greeted with less than enormous smiles and home hearth hospitality, spend hours in the nearest comfy pub for meals and couldn’t believe the incredible history of Skye, known at the Winged Isle.

We were told that every season is different – the heather hues change to create a unique carpet over the landscape, the winter weather rolls in to create beautiful snowscapes, storms are glorious and blue skies are interchangeable, sometimes every 10 minutes.

For those who prefer a little more traditional directions, this is the area we covered in 3 days and a fantastic route which we loved. We stayed overnight near Loch Ness and on the Isle of Skye.

I guess we’ll just have to go back, what a shame!
